Vermont Water Buffalo Inc. is a modern dairy facility that includes a free stall barn complex, a 5 x 5 tandem milking parlor, and one of only two water buffalo milk creameries in the United States.
The foundation for the healthy, delicious products produced on our farm is the creamy, white milk provided each day by our herd of water buffalo. The difference between our milk and ordinary cow's milk can be discerned simply by looking at them side-by-side. Buffalo milk is pure white because it contains no carotene � the buffalo have already processed the carotene into Vitamin A. Buffalo milk is also very thick, more like half-and-half than milk. The real differences, however, lie in the nutritional value of buffalo milk and the products made from it.

On the creamery side, Bufala di Vermont produces specialty cheeses and yogurt using 100% water buffalo milk.Fresh mozzarella and yogurt are made on site at the South Woodstock creamery.In addition, we have partnered with local artisanal cheese makers to produce a variety of hard cheeses made with bufala milk and aged in caves.
